#WriteChatChallenge
Every Sunday on Twitter, an ever-growing group of authors and writers gather. HRH @WritingSpirit kindly invites us along to discuss a topic for the afternoon. This can be based on our feelings, our muses, our strengths and weaknesses.
This is excerpt from Julie Isaac's (AKA @WritingSpirit) blog describing what #WriteChat is:
To help writers make the most of the wonderful ability to make connections with other writers on Twitter, I've created #WriteChat.
Every Sunday at 12:00 pm PST / 3:00pm EST (and lasting approximately 3 hours), I pose a question to get the conversation started. However, as this is about connecting with other writers, feel free to discuss anything and everything about writing, life, and this creative journey we all share.
To help you connect with other writers, share what kind of writing you do, what genres interest you, where you're at on the writing / publishing journey, or anything else that's swirling around your mind and heart about this writing life. - Join In
- Don't just follow - connect!
- Have fun
Now back to #WriteChatChallenge. On Sunday (30th August 2009), I was involved in a discussion about writing different genres and whether others found it difficult. After some prompting and encouragement, I started thinking about writing fiction. Something I usually leave to the geniuses I admire!
I created #WriteChatChallenge and sent my tweet out into Twitterverse asking if anyone else wanted to join me.The idea being to write a piece of work that was completey different to your usual style, getting you out of your comfort zone, and I would post on here for the world to critique.Initially, a different genre was going to be the only stipulation. However, @WriterCLKelly suggested a word count was added. So out went the tweet: 1500-2000 words on a genre you don't normally write on by Saturday. Will post on my web for critique.I received positive responses from @Doublelattemama and @valeca.
Please check out the links below and leave a comment, giving honest helpful critiques, feedback and help.
I will read comments before posting. I will happily post links to websites and blogs, if helpful.
Please do not send abuse or spam. This will not be tolerated.
This was a challenge, after all!
Enjoy!
